From time to time STORM RIDES will sell products on a 'Pre-Order' basis.
What is a pre-order?
This is where the company will enable products, usually but not exclusively e scooters, for sale with a delay in delivery due to them being held overseas or being at that time manufactured.
How does a pre-order work?
All Pre-Orders are full and final sales, whether they are paid in full up front or paid as a deposit, as standard to commit a pre-order the full pre-order purchase price needs to be paid. As an exception for scooters where the discounted pre-order price totals $2999 or more we will accept a 50% deposit by arrangement and for payment by bank deposit. Bank deposit is required for this as we lose several % to credit card or other transaction and merchant frees for payment by other methods. 2-6% merchant fees is a significant cost when applied to the margin available on a high ticket item. So if we are accepting a 50% deposit we require it to be by bank deposit, the final payment can be made by any means we accept as payment. For the reasons stated we prefer and appreciate bank deposit but you may pay the settlement value by any advertised accepted means.
Why do we do pre-order pricing, and how does such low pricing make sense for us?
The value of a pre-order to us as the seller is that is helps to ease some of the cashflow pressure crested by having to pay for products sometimes months before they arrive, which means paying interest on them for months before getting any income from them, this can significantly affect the final margin and profit. When importing you have to pay half the GST when the products arrive, so we have to pay that on the whole container as it arrives, and we only get that GST in when we sell those products, which happens over several months. This applies a lot of pressure to cashflow. By selling some earlier on pre-order we have some cash coming in to help smooth out the cashflow costs of importing.
Your order constitutes an offer to the Supplier (Storm Rides) to buy the Product. Acceptance of your order will only take place when we send you the an order confirmation typically via email, at which point a Contract will come into existence between the Supplier and you.
If your order cannot be accepted, we will inform you and will refund you any sums you have paid. This might be, for example, because the Product is not to be delivered due to a factory or supply chain issue, or no longer available, or any other reasonable reason at the discretion of STORM RIDES, or because we have identified an error in the price or description of the Product.
Can you change your mind and get a refund?
Basically no, you cannot cancel. The pre-order are considered confirmed sales and inform our purchasing plans and schedules for following orders which we have to lock in far in advance with manufacturers, people cancelling their orders affects our cashflow and order requirements. Especially for larger specialist high end E Scooters this can be significantly costly to us. If you make a pre-order purchase you are committing to full purchase and ownership of the product. if you change your mind, or have a change in circumstances, you are committed to this purchase. As long as at least $1 has transacted to confirm the purchase and sale then the sale is considered to be fully obligated. STORM RIDES reserves the sole right to consider and accept or deny any request to cancel a pre-order at our sole discretion. In the rare cases where this has been accepted there is a re-stocking fee or pre-order cancellation fee applied. This fee is typically $250 or 5% of the product price, whichever is the greater.
Can you change your mind and get a different product or store credit?
This is at the sole discretion of STORM RIDES, we want our customers to have their perfect ride. We make these decisions considering the cost and ordering factors described in the refund request' clause above. Please reach out and ask, we do try and accommodate these requests.
What happens if the order is significantly delayed?
STORM RIDES commits to providing a product to you within six (6) weeks of the expected arrival date specified at time of order being placed. If there are delays greater than six (6) weeks then you have the right to cancel your order for a full refund. The exception to this is if the order is being placed as a Special Order specifically on your behalf in which case there is no right to cancel the order. For the avoidance of doubt if the product expected date at time of purchase is a month such as 'May' or 'early June' then the date that the six (6) weeks shall be counted from is the last day of the month given.
